In 2010, he signed to Average Joe’s Entertainment and released his debut single “On My Way to You”, which reached number 55 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. He released three more singles between 2011 and 2012: “Doin’ Nothin'” (the second single), “Lonesome” (the third), and finally “Baby Got Back” (the fourth).
After signing with Average Joe’s Entertainment, Cody Johnson released his debut album Big Dreams & High Hopes in 2013 via Thirty Tigers Records. It peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and was certified gold by RIAA for shipments exceeding 500,000 copies sold in the US alone making Cody one of only a handful of artists from Central Texas ever to achieve this feat – at just 28 years old!

He graduated from Waco High School in 2003, where he played football and baseball and ran track. After high school he attended Blinn College for two years before moving back home to work as an oilfield firefighter and serve as an EMT with the Westlake Fire Department
