George graduated from San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (Texas) in 1970.

As a young man in Beeville, he began working part-time as a country music disc jockey under the name “Geero” at KRIC AM while he played music full-time at local clubs. This led to him getting fired from his job as an insurance salesman. He then moved to California to pursue his music career full-time where he performed regularly at several clubs including The Palomino Club & The Golden Nugget Casino (which was later sold & became The Wagon Wheel Hotel & Casino).

The couple divorced on November 22, 1995 after nearly 30 years of marriage due to infidelity issues within their marriage that had strained it throughout their relationship. After his divorce he began dating Becky Vollmer whom he would go on to marry again in 1996 after having known each other since high school.
